El Cazador is open for business in downtown Eatonton. Located around the corner from the Putnam County Courthouse, the new dine-in restaurant is serving authentic Mexican cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner.

The 104 N. Jefferson Ave. establishment was previously a Chinese restaurant called the China Chef and remained unoccupied for a while but has since been remodeled to fit the new style.

Owner Botello Rangel modeled the menu after a popular restaurant in Madison that he also operates.

Familiar faces have been greeting diners since the Aug. 26 soft opening. Some of the restaurant staff previously worked at the now-closed Cuco’s that was located next door to El Cazador.

The extensive menu includes appetizers, entrées, lunch items, kid’s meals and deserts. Awaiting approval of state serving permits, management told The Eatonton Messenger that the restaurant would offer a large selection of mixed drinks. They currently offer beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
