Georgia Butts BBQ will soon celebrate their official first anniversary as a full-service restaurant, having moved into their current location in April 2017. The restaurant features a rustic, relaxed atmosphere, a full bar, and conveniences like a drive thru window and boat docks, so you can stop by after spending some fun time on Lake Oconee.
The restaurant has come a long way from its beginnings in 2010 as a humble roadside barbecue shack with picnic tables and a tongue-in-cheek sign at the center that read Fine Dining. “We’ve moved on up to the east side,” owner Alex Davidson says with a smile.
Georgia Butts BBQ offers down-home, pulled pork barbecue in all its glory, as well as burgers, briskets, chicken, and much, much more. The restaurant serves a full breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, and stop by the full bar if you’re feeling thirsty (on Sundays, the bar opens at 12:30 p.m.). They also offer catering services, perfect for your next social event or get-together.
Kimberly Johnson, Front of the House Manager at Georgia Butts BBQ, says their barbecue pork is the key to their success, but it’s not the only thing Georgia Butts have to offer. The peach cobbler is always a favorite, and the friendly and professional are always smiling. “Plus, there’s great scenery, being right on the lake, and you can’t beat the convenience of being able to pull your boat up to the dock and come right in,” she says. “And now that we’re offering breakfast, you don’t want to miss that. We have homemade pancakes, everything you’d want, really,” says Kimberly. “And we can put anything on a biscuit,” she jokes.
