Gro-Tec in Eatonton is seeing one of its busiest times of the year with spring just around the corner prompting local gardeners to prepare for the planting season. Transfer trucks from various fertilizer traders, including Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and Pennington, lined the roadway in front of the Madison Road facility last Friday waiting to pull into the yard for loading.
“It’s just that time of year,” said Gro-Tec Plant Manager, Daryl Malcom, explaining why there has been so many trucks going in and out of the plant recently. “We sell lawn and garden supplies and spring is the time of year when we sell the most.”
According to Putnam Development Authority Director Terry Schwindler, Gro-Tec has two busy seasons a year, spring and fall, when distributors rush to deliver fertilizer and other Gro-Tec products to local retailers.
“They also hire a lot of temporary help during this time to help them get through the busy season,” Schwindler said.
