Healthcare As the area’s best 100 percent digital, non-profit, healthcare provider, Putnam General Hospital is very proud to have served the Eatonton and surrounding lake areas with over 40 years of excellent healthcare. Putnam General Hospital provides general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients, and participates in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Specialty services include Cardiac Rehabilitation, an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a Swing Bed Skilled Nursing Unit, Physical Therapy Services, Respiratory Therapy Services, Imaging Department, and a Sleep Center. Emergency room services are available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Sixteen additional hospitals are located within a 50 mile radius of Eatonton, including four trauma hospitals, the Georgia Center for Total Cancer Care at Cowles Clinic, and more than 1000 specialists.
Museums Eatonton-Putnam County has numerous museums including: The Uncle Remus Museum , Old School History Museum, and the Georgia Writers Museum.
Historic Sites & Landmarks Historic sites and landmarks include: The Alice Walker Driving Tour, Rock Eagle and Rock Hawk Effigies, Historic Downtown Eatonton, and The Historic Piedmont Scenic Byway, Crooked Pines Farm, Southern Manor Farms, and the Old Hudson Plantation.
Performing Arts The Plaza Arts Center attracts national, regional, local, and even international performers and shows to this special venue in the heart of the south. Our summer concert series, Meet Me at the Plaza, offers casual outdoor entertainment on The Plaza Arts Center lawn.
