The December issue of Georgia Trend magazine has ranked Putnam General Hospital, Navicent Health Partner, as one of Georgia’s Top Hospitals of 2014.
The magazine’s list includes facilities throughout the state, divided into five categories: teaching hospitals; hospitals of more than 400 beds, 151-399 beds, and fewer than 150 beds; critical access/rural community hospitals, “typically with 25 or fewer beds.”
Putnam General Hospital ranked fifth in the critical access hospital category, behind facilities in Bremen, Springfield, Alma and Cedartown.
St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro was ranked No. 12; Morgan Memorial Hospital in Madison, No. 16.
Georgia Trend released its list of 72 different facilities that excel in areas such as quality of care, patient satisfaction, mortality and readmission statistics and data on hospital-acquired infections and conditions.
“We know our patients and community expect high quality care, close to home, and our top priority is to have that care delivered by healthcare professionals in the safest possible settings,” said Alan Horton, Putnam General Hospital CEO.
“We are proud to be ranked highly in our state. The hard work and commitment from our doctors, nurses, staff, auxiliary and foundation are reaffirmed by the outcomes of care we provide.”
Information used to determine the rankings came from publicly available data on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s Hospital Compare website, www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov/.
The Hospital Compare website provides a snapshot of the quality care for more than 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals in the United States.
Georgia Trend magazine worked with researchers and healthcare professionals at WellStar Health System in Marietta to access and compile the data using a download from July 2014.
